Service Description

If you've ever wanted to try wheel throwing this is the perfect weekend for you. The class is run over 2 consecutive days from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm. The class is limited to 8 students. Alan Ballard is a very experienced potter and tutor. Alan started attending evening pottery classes with Justin Gardiner in 1977. He built a large wood firing kiln at home in Quail Valley where he produced mainly tableware for shops and the markets. In 1997, Alan moved his pottery to Appleby and later to the Craft Habitat. When he became the resident potter at Craft Potters he tutored students enrolled in the Diploma in Ceramics at the University of Otago. Course includes: 1/2 a bag of clay per person Items can be fired but Craft Potters kiln fees apply e.g. mug $1.00/firing PLEASE NOTE: If you are booking into this course you are committing to be able to attend for the duration of the course. We are unable to offer make up classes in our courses. If you are unable to attend a class for any reason, this is not the responsibility of Craft Potters.
