5-Week class, 2.5 hours on Thursday nights
Service Description
Starting Thursday 15th October, join our tutor Jolie Simpson for five fun and focused evening sessions designed to build your skills and confidence on the pottery wheel. Perfect for beginners, this course will guide you through the foundations of wheel throwing in a supportive, small-group environment. Across the first few weeks, you’ll practice essential techniques—centering, pulling, and shaping clay—while learning to problem-solve and refine your approach. Don’t worry if your early creations don’t survive—it’s all part of the process! As the course progresses, you’ll move on to creating pieces ready for bisque firing and learn the basics of glazing. Firing of up to 7 pieces is included as part of the course. Completing a 5-week class is a great way to start to build muscle memory and prepare you for future wheel throwing and learning. The 5-week class would allow for : Weeks 1-3 on the wheel Week 4 trimming, detailing and handles Week 5 decorating and glazing Please note there is a break at the end of the course between Week 4 and 5 of TWO WEEKS to allow time for drying and firing before decorating and glazing on the 26th November.
