T1/2026 Wheel Throwing with Jolie

Service Description

This class is suitable for beginners, including anyone in their first few years of potting or returning to pottery after an absence who needs to regain their confidence at the wheel. Jolie Simpson will be teaching this 8-week throwing course, taking you through the steps of working with clay on the wheel and introducing tips and tools to level up your wheel work. As well as gaining confidence throwing on the wheel, trimming and finishing your pots, Jolie will help you to problem solve throughout this process and introduce some additional shapes and pots to extend your repertoire. The course cost includes firing of up to 7 pieces. If you want to complete more work, then additional clay/firings can be purchased. White Clay is used primarily for this class but in week 7 there will be the option to try some other clays for example - dark, buff, textured and speckle clays. In the latter part of the course your pots will be bisque fired, and you will have the opportunity to learn how to glaze your work. Please note there is a gap between the 7th session and the final (8th) glazing session. This allows time for firing of all class pieces.
